Access to full SSNs and dates of birth (DOBs) in other Merlin products requires a physical site inspection and is restricted to your company’s static IP address on file at Merlin. Site Inspection - FAQs

How much does a site inspection cost?

The site inspection fee is $100 non-refundable.

Will someone call me to set up an appointment for the site inspection?

Yes, the site inspection company will contact you at the telephone number you provide on the application to set an appointment that is convenient to you. If unable to contact you, they may drop in unannounced.

What will the site inspector look for?

To protect against fraudulent applications for these inspections, we cannot provide details.

How long does a site inspection take?

Usually about 10-20 minutes.

How long after I submit the application before the site inspection is completed?

Within 24 hours after receipt of your application, you should be contacted to set up an appointment. The caller will identify himself as a third party inspector assigned to verify your business location. Turnaround time is 2-5 days.

When will I know the results of the site inspection?

A Merlin Sales representative will contact you.

Is there anything I can do to prepare for the site inspection?

Have your original professional license and a valid driver's license available for the inspector to review.

Will I fail the site inspection if I work out of my home?

Not necessarily. Working out of your home will not, in and of itself, cause you to fail the site inspection.

Will the site inspector take pictures?

Yes, 2-3 pictures of the premises, both inside and outside, will be taken.

The nature of my profession requires that I protect my identity and business address. How secure is the information that you will get from my site inspection?

Neither the third party inspector nor Merlin Information Services will provide information from your site inspection to anyone for any reason unless required to do so by subpoena.

I've already been site inspected for another data provider. Do I have to go through this again?

It depends. Contact your Merlin Sales Representative to discuss.

If I fail, may I request another site inspection if I can I correct the problem?

Sometimes - it depends on why you failed.

Static IP Address - FAQs

What is a static IP Address?

Computers that connect to the Internet are assigned a unique numerical address known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. This unique address identifies each computer on the Internet so that computers can communicate with each other by sending and receiving information. A static IP address is simply a “permanent” address that remains associated with a single computer over an extended period of time. This differs from a dynamic IP address, which is assigned ad hoc at the start of each session, normally changing from one session to the next.

How do I know if I have a static IP address?

Generally, you know if you have a static IP address as you pay your internet service provider for it. If you are unsure, please contact your internet service provider.

How do I get a static IP address if I don't have one?

Contact your internet service provider to purchase a static IP address.

How much does a static IP address cost?

Generally static IP addresses cost around $10 per month. Please contact your internet service provider for more information.

What if I access Merlin using a different IP address than the static IP address I have on file?

Account access will be granted, but search results will contain truncated SSNs and DOBs.

What if my static IP address changes?

Contact Merlin to update the static IP address you have on file.

What if I have a range of static IP addresses?

We can accommodate ranges of IP addresses. Please contact Merlin to discuss.
